The Boidem's own Believe It or Not!
A couple of weeks ago I sent an e-mail message to a face-to-face friend. It was
little more than a link to something which I was quite sure would interest him.
Though I have no problem with the idea of my face-to-face and my virtual lives
being conducted on parallel and never intersecting tracks (which is, of course,
a logical topic for a column) in this particular case I was very curious as to
whether he'd checked out the link I'd sent him, and how he responded to it. Upon
seeing him I said to him "did you get around to checking the link I sent
you?" to which he responded "I never check my e-mail".
I admittedly didn't know how to respond. After all, if someone has an e-mail account,
we sort of assume that they use it. But perhaps that's not as logical an assumption
as it may seem.
