Off limits for serious research.
My academic service provider has very clear standards as to what can justifiably be considered a valid site for academic work. And Urban Legend sites aren't included. Whenever I try to click over to one of those sites I get a message telling me that the category I'm looking for is blocked. I think that I'm even supposed to feel embarrassed that I've been caught trying to find something that's not kosher. Someone at the decision making level apparently has very clear standards as to what's legitimate and what isn't, and urban legends simply aren't. I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to try to explain that this is considered a respected academic discipline, but it probably wouldn't help either.
