Reality? Who cares about reality?

If once, long ago (and this may not even be true, even if common knowledge suggests that it is) people went to movies expecting to see something "real" or at least something that could reasonably be accepted as real (or if not that, possible) new computer-aided technologies allow us to forego the real for the fantastic. Who wants to see a forest fire when you can see a convincing simulation of an atomic bomb ... with you right in the middle of it? It's enough to make you think that the forest fire of long ago was authentic, though of course film has played with us since its inception, well before computer-aided simulation made it close to impossible not to exaggerate, or at least attempt to.
