Now why would I want to do that?

There's a real possibility that some forums simply don't merit being saved. Perhaps some things really should be thrown away. I have no doubt that more than a few (probably many more than a few) forums contain material of such limited interest that erasing their content is actually a blessing. On the other hand, some of the forums with which I've been associated have delved in depth into some very interesting and important aspects of the usage of different aspects of the internet in the learning process, and even if I'm not in a position at the moment to devote time to reviewing those materials, I dream of one day (after retirement?) finding the time to go over them, both to see what they contain in general, and to collect my own writings in them.
