Liner notes on the web.
With one tool that I use I discovered than when I place a music CD into the computer in order to listen to it the program connects to somewhere on the web and retrieves information on that CD. It was an impressive trick, but it paled in comparison to what another program offered. In that program I started playing an mp3 file that I'd downloaded via P2P and up popped information on the disc from which it was recorded. It was in this manner than I discovered that a few random cuts that I'd downloaded from the same artist were actually from the same album. I don't know whether I'm able to embed information of this sort by myself into cuts I've downloaded, or whether it only happens on cuts that have been digitized from an original CD (it happens only on some of my mp3s), but either way it's quite a feat.
