It should, and perhaps does, go without saying. If these columns are my point of reference, my drawer, my "thinking ouloud" space, then it makes sense for me to use them as a space in which I examine why it is that I allow them (or they demand) to be a subject for a column. Admittedly there's something of a circular argument here: having chosen to make this a topic of a column, I then proceed to fill up that same column with an explanation/examination of why I made that choice. Still, this page is definitely not off topic.
