and some do it more than others

My mother, for instance, used to operate a top-quality clipping service for her children. I first reported on this service four years ago, though since then it has become much less frequent. Telephone conversations, as well as e-mail correspondence, inform me that she still has a box on desk or on another table that continues to be filled with items that I just might want to receive because she recalls that I once expressed an interest in a topic or a name. Mom's frame of reference is, of course, her children. There's a certain logic in that - more than I'm able to find in the fact that these columns, perhaps the internet equivalent of writing for a drawer, continue to be such an important frame of reference for me.
