Cyberspace Shel Mata

The promise of cyberspace and the internet was, as was probably the promise of almost every communications technology when it made it's debut, a promise of bringing people together, of bridging the differences that divide us. Of course it was a utopian vision, and as such high unrealistics and probably totally unrealisable, but what's so bad about believing in a Yerushalayim Shel Ma'alah? But telling us we were wrong is one thing, rubbing it in is another.

One of the by-products of the political unrest in our area has been the emergence of a new front for warfare. The same cyberspace that was perceived to be a platform for enhancing mutual understanding has instead become an arena for heated battle - and not solely virtual.
