Squaring the circle?
Just what was so legitimate about this thesis is, even at this late date, rather unclear. It's hard to say that a study was conducted. Rather, an intensive series of reflections on how this project grew and took shape somehow became acceptable. The university is, of course, in flux. Not only cyberspace and the internet are causing it to change the way it sees itself and the accepted definition of legitimate academic endeavours. Post-modernism probably has exerted a great deal of influence on this as well. Be that as it may, I can only be humbly thankful to my advisors who not only identified this project (which in its native form appears to be quite foreign from anything academic) as a fitting one for a thesis, but who also were able to identify my own difficulties in focusing on a topic and were able to expand the boundaries of the term legitimate in order to include me.
