I've eluded numerous times to the rather limited readership of these columns. True, every so often someone I meet comments, in a matter of fact, "isn't it obvious?", sort of way, that he or she liked a particular column, and I find myself asking how he or she knows about them at all. The strangest part is that the answer is inevitably something like: "but of course I read them".

So instead of ten readers, perhaps there are fifteen. I'm still in no danger of being Claibornized, and anyway, it's doubtful that what might ruin a restaurant could have a negative effect on the generation and distribution of information. Let's call this my public diary and leave it at that.
