Frankly, I expected to find numerous references to this event on the web and was quite surprised to find very few. Numerous astronomical calendars list these three events (the solstice, the full moon and the moon's perigee) as occuring on the same day, but very few of them make note of it as something significant.

I'm not at all sure why it is that an event such as this, that if we gaze up to the sky will most definitely leap out at us, commands so little attention on the web. The solar eclipse of the summer, which astronomers told us wasn't any more significant than any other solar eclipse (though it was observable from highly populated areas) had very extensive web coverage. Perhaps, having already walked on the moon, we're not really impressed by it any more.
