Okay, so it's a different sort of pawn.

Bob Dylan wrote that song following the murder of Medgar Evers, one of the most important figures in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States in the early 1960s. The song wasn't about Medgar Evers, but instead about poor southern whites who in their violent resistance to integration were actually acting against their own self-interest.

I certainly don't mean to compare myself to the subject matter of Dylan's song, but I do have to admit that the business aspects of the internet have so overshadowed the information aspects that it's now hard to see myself as part of anything that might be considered an internet community. The leaders and movers of the internet of today undoubtedly see my information needs as a rather insignificant part of the vast frontiers they want to conquer.
