... a fatal attraction?


attract: pull, draw to, lure, bait...

Why is it that after only a few synonyms the thesaurus already starts pulling, perhaps shoving, us toward terms with negative connotations?

Are we afraid of being pulled in too far? Do we feel ourselves weak when faced with the awesomeness of all these links? Do we fear being put under some unbreakable spell?

And if the answers are (even partially) yes, does that mean that those of us who feel this attraction simply love living on the edge, thrive on taking chances? (What's the worst that can happen, anyway?)
