Sadly out of style.

Too many years ago already Steven Johnson wrote about the special linking style of the long-defunct web magazine Suck. Ten years ago, when I first acknowledged the Suck linking style, the magazine had already ceased publication (five years earlier). The dot-com bust had brought about a lack of funding. Johnson, in Interface Culture, had described what made Suck's links special. I've played with the idea of trying to do something along those lines here, but in the end decided simply to link to what I wrote (and quoted) back then. I doubt there's much chance of this sort, or any other not-specifically-informational sort, of linking ever again becoming popular.
