Part of the time that I was working on this column Hila got home for an all-too-rare visit. While discussing whether it was really smartphones that have destroyed conversation I found an opportunity to ask whether she was familiar with silent disco. I should have known ... of course she was!

When I asked her opinion, she was very positive - the ability to dance to your own private music while in a public setting seemed to her a desirable mix of those two very real spheres. What to me seemed so strange seemed to her to be very natural.
