Without a doubt I could have easily, and logically, linked to the discussion of microcelebrity directly from the main page. For that matter, with minimum effort I could even have worked it into the main page of this column itself. Considering that most of this column deals with fame, or fake-fame, or the difference between online and "real life" celebrity (or the lack thereof), it would even make sense that microcelebrity would receive higher standing in this column. What's more, nesting it far off from the main page means that chances are good that any readers whom I'm lucky enough to have click into at least the main page of this column may not click deep enough to even reach that deep-down page. So perhaps this nesting should be viewed as sort of an in-joke. A wink toward the idea that in the internet era for many people fame can be so hidden away that when its real (or at least deserved) it often still doesn't get recognized.
