I still don't have a Facebook account, and it looks as though I'll continue to survive, and perhaps even thrive, without one. Yes, I'm sure that there's a sort of elitism involved in remaining aloof from such a central and defining aspect of today's culture, but quite honestly my reasons are (to my mind at least) reasonable. It's not as though I don't like having an ongoing flow of information coming to me. I most certainly do. But I prefer to define how that flow gets to me, to pick and choose what's allowed in. For that reason RSS, which to my dismay seems to have become a niche tool, is to my mind the desirable way of dealing with the stream.
