The no-contact instrument

It turns out that one of the main pioneers in the development of RFID technology was also the inventor of one of the most captivating musical instruments. The same page that tells us about Warwick's implant tells us that Leon Theremin invented:

one of the first covert listening devices, also known as “bugs.”
which is regarded as a predecessor of the RFID chip. What that page doesn't tell us that is that Theremin invented the musical instrument that bears his name, the theremin, one of the first "electronic" musical instruments. The instrument has two antennas, and its pitch and volume are determined by the movement of the hands in proximity to these. The sound is usually described as eerie or perhaps outer-spacey, and though it's primarily used today for special effects, there are a number of professional theremin players who perform "classic" works specially composed for the instrument.
