Toolbars tend to impinge on what is already relatively scarce browser window real estate. In that sense, streamlining the browser in order to make room for more information is a positive development. Four years ago I linked to some examples of toolbar overkill, and I'm pleased to see that some of these are still around, (the browser example is from May of 2004) though copying and saving them to myself can't really hurt for when I might want to visit them sometime in the future.
