Putting an overused concept to work.

I've noted a number of times in the past that I'm not the greatest fan of the wisdom of crowds take on collective intelligence. Though I'm sure that crowds can exhibit real intelligence, I'm also convinced that they can just as readily show that they're incredibly dumb. Levine's practice of tagging photos of flowers he can't identify as "unknown", however, is a wonderful example of how a crowd, or at least an undefined conglomerate of people who don't know each other, can actually be a source of useful knowledge.
