Well, maybe not exactly banal.


Certainly there were some valid reasons that merited our wanting to visit sites in such a way that nobody would know that we had clicked in to them. And there's nothing criminal about wanting, sometimes, to be able to send e-mail in such a way (via someplace in Norway, if I remember correctly) that the mail we sent couldn't be traced back to us. Of course everyone always assumes that anyone who wants to do this is dealing with pornography. But I'm sure that there must have been numerous other reasons for wanting to do this.
