No need to do it yourself.

How much time would we be willing to devote to trying to find something on the web that's similar to something that we think we might have to prepare by ourselves? Would an hour, or two hours, make sense? The time we'd be willing to devote to a search would probably be relative to the time we would need to prepare something by ourselves. The more difficult, or time-consuming, the task, the more time we'd probably be willing to spend searching for something. We certainly wouldn't want to spend more time searching than we would need to prepare whatever we wanted to prepare, since that would obviously be counterproductive. At what point would we decide that our time would be better spent doing our own work?

Nantel's resolution would seem to be the direct result of the improvements in the internet's search capabilities, and of the fact that so much is actually available on the web. He seems to assume, and probably rightly so, that he'll need to devote only a short period of time looking for something.
