Maybe I've already got one.

Though I use quite a few tools, and often take numerous others for trail runs, I find myself returning, more and more, to my gmail account and using it for just about everything. At the same time that I'll place a bookmark into my Google bookmarks, and/or upload it to my del.icio.us account, I'll also send the URL of that page, along with its title, and perhaps a comment or two about it, to my gmail. In a similar manner, I seem to be making my gmail more into my Google Notebook than the notebook tool itself. Have I found a short quote I want to save? Sure, using my Google notebook is a nice way to save it, but I can achieve pretty much the same result by sending the snippet, the URL and the title of the page, and any comments I want to add, to my gmail. It's readily searchable there, along with everything else I've collected. And while I'm at it, instead of keeping items in my RSS reader as "new", or "unread", and in that way perhaps get back to them more or less easily, why not send myself a note about these to my gmail as well.

Perhaps this isn't as elegant a solution as each tool that's specifically designed to perform one specific task, but on the other hand, it pretty much pulls the rug out from under a tool such as Lijit. After all, if I'm already saving everything in one searchable place, why would I need a new tool that allows me to do just that?
