I rarely allow myself to seriously venture into the realms of futurology. One
of the few times that I did was perhaps thirty years ago when I first saw someone
walking down the streets of Jerusalem with the earphones of an early Walkman in
his ears. As I admitted four years ago as well, I
shook my head and said that it would never catch on. It simply didn't make sense
to me that people might attempt to create a private bubble in the midst of a public
sphere. I was sort of wrong on that one.
