Who needs yet another "why the internet" column?
Up until the time that this column was almost fully ready for uploading, its
working title was The column that almost got away. I was continually asking
myself precisely what it was that I thought I was writing about, and why. Of course
it wasn't the column that was getting away, but my own focus on the subject. Part
of my problem was that without a title I was finding the necessary focusing difficult.
Even as I upload this I'm not fully convinced that I've found the proper focus,
but at least I've got a more or less concrete picture of what I've been trying
to do. And I suppose that that's something in and of itself.
