Isn't that what hypertext is all about?


As is, I suppose, to be expected, this isn't unexplored territory for the Boidem. Exactly six years ago I wrote something very similar. Back then, however, I attempted to examine whether the experience of web surfing might be considered a religious experience. Although to more than only a certain extent that's what I'm examining here as well, my metaphors this time are less celestial and more down-to-earth.

But how should a reader respond to a link from somewhere well in the middle of a column that leads to a page that essentially says that I've already written about much of what I'm writing here? Quite frankly, I admit that it's hard not to get the impression that I'm hinting to readers that they've wasted their time getting even this far. On the other hand, if you've gotten this far, you might as well read on to the end. And thanks for doing so.
