Haven't we been here before?
On his blog, Keen reports on some of the pre-reviews of his book, including one by Philip Marchand, a biographer of Marshall McLuhan. Keen quotes from Marchand:
What is odd about many of the issues raised by Keen is how old they are, and how much they predate the Internet.
It's true, many of these same issues were raised well before the internet (Marchand mentions, among others, Christopher Lasch's The Culture of Narcissism), but I'm not really sure that this is as odd as Marchand seems to think it is.
