And we have to remember to attend.

If we're traveling across continent or over the ocean to a conference, chances are good that we're going to remember why we're in a foreign setting and we'll actually attend the sessions. The same holds true even for a conference that only demands an hour's drive in the morning. Not only will the conference be listed in our calendars, it'll also be rather prominent in our minds.

But the simple fact that a virtual conference permits us to "participate" while sitting at our desks at home (or at work) means that we can go to sleep at night intending to attend, and wake up in the morning, get in our cars, and simply drive to work. We may have reminded ourselves that at 11:00 we want to log in to a session, but at 10:45 we might be busy with another task that engulfs our concentration, and only an hour later, when we come up for breath do we realize that we forgot, or more to the point, it slipped by us.
