Having other words.

Is the question of something being "in" or "on", or "of" a particular tag, of being categorized, or classified, or stored as, or sorted out (or in?), or perhaps even flavored only a question of semantics? Perhaps. After all, we pretty much know what it is we're talking about, whichever phrase we use. But when we say that we file them we're reverting to a metaphor that may have served us well in the past, but doesn't really permit us to see the possibilities that a different metaphor can offer. Seeking out a new metaphor is ultimately a means of redefining how we do this storing/sorting/classifying/categorizing. Sure, tagging is similar to other activities, but precisely because it's different we use a different word when we do it.
