Don't count on it.

Yes, I have thousands of files on my hard drive - many of them Word documents or other text-based documents that I might sometime, for some reason, want to access. And because of that, I need to either file them properly so that I can get to them, or have a functional search program that finds them when I need them. But over the years I've had the opportunity to glimpse into the hard drives of quite a few people, and doing so has taught me why it is that they often find it hard to relate to my burning need for a good search tool. To my perennial surprise (I wrote about this only half a year ago), all too often I discover that other people don't have thousands of documents on their hard drives - either they don't write very much, or they're not saving what they've written. For one of these reasons (and it doesn't really matter which), they're going to have a much easier time finding a document on their computers than I have on mine.
