It didn't take long.
A Google search on "digital maoism" brings up almost 110,000 hits. Compared
to Pamela Anderson, that's spare change, and it's not even a third of the hits
that a search for James Surowiecki's "The Wisdom of Crowds", which Lanier
sharply criticizes, brings up. Still, for a lengthy article that outrightly criticizes
a number of well-established truisms of the internet, that was quite a meteoric
rise. Then again, discussion of the article seems to have faded almost as quickly
as it blossomed.
