Why take sides?
Do I really have to be either in favor or against the topic about which I'm
writing? Even before hypertext there were numerous other possibilities. I could
be, for instance, fascinated yet repulsed by it, or perhaps enchanted by its inherent
possibilities, yet fearful of their coming to fruition. Taking sides is much too
easy, finding reasons to place myself firmly in contradictory camps ... now that
takes considerable skill and effort.
