In what pile did I leave that article?

For rather obvious reasons, I wasn't reading Nature magazine back in 1953 when the Watson and Crick article was published. Had I been a reader, I don't know whether I would have had the foresight to save the article. I do know that had I done so, it would have rather quickly worked its way into a pile of primarily unrelated papers - for all intents and purposes, lost. Now, of course, I've saved a copy of the .pdf available on the web, and also bookmarked it. At the moment there's no need to print out a copy which would quickly get misplaced, if that particular article actually has a "correct" place in my papers.

Not too long from now I'll probably forget about the article, and about having a copy of it, which is pretty much to be expected. But Google Desktop Search will also permit me to rediscover it with even the slightest of recollections. Yes, there really are advantages to being digital.
