Prevailing wisdom tells us that the invention of the printing press greatly speeded up the flow and dissemination of information. Thanks to printing, Martin Luther's theses nailed to the door of the Wittenberg church took on a life of their own and initiated vast changes in 16th century Europe. But of course this only suggests that impact is relative. When things moved at best at the speed of a horse, distribution in print could cause a revolution. To do the same today they have to move much faster.
