Too new to use.
About seven years ago, perhaps longer, I worked at building online courses for
what was billed as Israel's first virtual school. One of the courses our "school"
offered (though not one on which I worked) was in Visual Basic. The course was
open to high school pupils, and though it was a virtual course, they were supposed
to study in their schools, not from home. The principal of one of the schools
that wanted to enroll pupils in the course contacted our virtual school with a
problem. He told us that his school didn't have computers that could be used for
the course, and he wanted to know whether we could offer a solution. One of the
people involved with our school, however, knew the school that had contacted us,
and felt that something was amiss. He knew that a brand new computer room, with
about twenty new computers, had just recently been installed in the school. He
contacted the principal to remind him that the new computer room was just right
for the course. Without missing a beat the principal replied: "oh, that room
is too new to allow our pupils to use it".
