But of course you can have a list of sites.


Part of the nature of an internet site is that it links to other web pages - both internal and external (they also, by the way, have a tendency to branch out). Understanding this, template designers (with at least one of the groups I'm familiar with) have prepared for us a special sort of page that generates a list of links. Each address gets put on a line by itself, and then, upon uploading the page, it gets converted to a link. Personally, I don't really like lists of links, preferring to embed them where they seem most proper, but I can still live with a list like this. Except that I want to explain a bit about each link before it appears. It seems only fair that I explain to the reader what it is that he or she is going to find on that particular page, instead of just saying "try your luck". But a list is a list, and it turns out that a couple of lines of text between each link demands a new template. And it's a good guess that in the end the technology will win.
