What's so great about wholeness?

Should those texts coalesce into a whole? Is there some unspoken value in such a thing? And maybe "voice" is also highly overrated, simply a euphemism for control which has been superseded by the possibilities of web-based hypertext. Maybe texts such as blogs and forums are already a new generation of text in which "voice" more or less loses its importance, or meaning. And what about wikis, in which "voice" seems to be a transitory, ephemeral, phenomenon?

Hypertext allows me to contradict myself and not feel embarrassed about doing so, and maybe there really isn't any reason to be embarrassed. Since when is there really only one way of seeing something? Why should we assume that an essay should take a definitive stand on something?
