Hey, I recognize that!
For better or for worse, questions of style and of voice in writing interest me.
Does the Boidem have a consistent voice? Should it? Over a period of eight years
style changes. Though the Boidem was never particularly image intensive, it's
become even less so as the years have passed. The length of each column, the number
of links each has, has become more or less consistent. Some topics demand numerous
outside links, others survive almost totally without them, but on the whole a
Boidem column is, very clearly, a Boidem column - easily distinguishable from
any number of other web-based columns that deal with similar issues, and just
as easily distinguishable from other web-based projects of my own. And if I keep
this up, this style will undoubtedly continue to evolve such that in two years,
if I write about this, I may emphasize different aspects of these columns as their
identifying characteristics. My guess is that if that happens, I'll still be emphasizing
the use of hypertext.
