Actually, it's fading fast.
I do a lot of reading (of articles, not books), and frankly, I have to admit that
I don't really meet the classic expository paragraph much anymore. There's technical
writing which from what I've read is supposed to be terse and to the point - no
paragraph longer than two sentences, no sentence longer than 14 words. There's
op/ed writing which seems to be a lenient little brother to the expository paragraph
- it's supposed to make a clear point in a methodical manner, but is allowed to
play around a bit while making that point. And there seems to be quite a lot of
writing that perhaps simply shouldn't be getting published.
