קול קורא למענקים למדענים אורחים בתחום הטקסונומיה

היוזמה לטקסונומיה בישראל Israel Taxonomy Initiative תזמין בשנה"ל תשע"ב מדען/ים מחו"ל בעלי מומחיות בקבוצה טקסונומית כלשהי לתקופה של עד שלושה שבועות. המדען האורח יתבקש ללמד קורס טקסונומי מרוכז בתחומו במשך כשבוע שייערך במוסד להשכלה גבוהה. הקורס מיועד לקהל של סטודנטים ואנשי שטח ומקצוע בתחומים שבהם נחוץ ידע טקסונומי (למשל שמירת טבע, חקלאות וייעור). כמו כן יתאפשר למדען/ית האורח/ת לצאת למספר ימי סקר/מחקר בשדה ולערוך מחקר באוספי הטבע הלאומיים באוניברסיטת תל אביב ובאוניברסיטה העברית. במידת האפשר נצפה שהמדען האורח יכין מפתח לפאונה/פלורה של ישראל בתחום מומחיותו במהלך השנה או השנתיים שאחרי הביקור.

אנו מבקשים הצעות למדענים שיוזמנו בתיאום במהלך שנה"ל תשע"ב במסגרת היוזמה. היוזמה תממן את הטיסות לישראל וממנה, לינה ואש"ל, רכב לעבודת השדה, עזרי הוראה ועוזר הוראה. לצערנו אין באפשרותנו לשלם שכר או מלגה למדען. תשלום עבור השהות בישראל כפוף להנחיות אגף כספים באוניברסיטת תל-אביב.

עדיפות תינתן למדענים החוקרים קבוצות טקסונומיות שלגביהן חסר ידע בישראל או כאלו שיש להן חשיבות כלכלית וחקלאית. עדיפות תינתן לבקשות שמגובות ב-matching כספי אישי או מוסדי.

המבקשים להציע מועמד לתוכנית מתבקשים להעביר את המסמכים הבאים:

תוכנית קורס קצרה (מקסימום 1 עמוד באנגלית).

מכתב המלצה מן המזמין בארץ המנמק את חשיבות הזמנתו של המועמד.

Call for proposals for visiting scientists in the field of Taxonomy

During the academic year 2011/2012 the Israel Taxonomy Initiative wishes to invite scientists with expertise on specific taxonomic groups, for a period of about three weeks. The visiting scientist will be asked to teach a course of about one week in his/her area of expertise to be held at an Israeli academic institute. The course should address students and professionals and contribute taxonomic knowledge to areas where it is required such as nature conservation, agriculture and forestry. The visiting scientist will also be invited to conduct survey/fieldwork and use the National Collections of Natural History at Tel-Aviv University and the Hebrew University for research. We expect, if possible, that the visiting scientist will prepare a key of the fauna/flora of Israel in his/her area of expertise, one to two years following his/her visit.

The Israel Taxonomy Initiative will fund the air fare to and from Israel, accommodation and per diem, a vehicle for field work, teaching aids and a teaching assistant. Unfortunately we are not able to compensate the scientist for his/her teaching. Expenses are subject to regulations of Tel Aviv Univeristy's guidelines for visiting scholars. Priority will be given to proposals with matching sources.

Priority will be given to scientists conducting research on taxonomic groups for which information in Israel is lacking or those with economical and agricultural significance. Priority will also be given to applications that are matched by a personal or institutional fund.

Proposals should include the following materials:

C.V of the visiting scientist including list of publications

A course outline (maximum 1 page English)

A letter of recommendation from the inviting scientist, explaining the importance of the proposed visit.
