Congratulations to Adva on being awarded the prestigious FEBS Young Scientist Program (YSP) Travel Award to attend the 37th FEBS Congress and YSP Meeting in Spain in September 2012. Adva will present her work on the involvement of the PA28gamma protein in the DNA damage.
February 2012:
We are very proud of Ayelet Star upon her successful transition to the direct Ph.D. program. Well done!
Yossi gave a special lecture at the International A-T Workshop, ATW2012, in
New Delhi, India. His talk was entitled "On the neurological phenotype of A-T".
After spending 5 fruitful months in our lab, we farewell Marianna Borecka ,
who was a visiting international student in our lab, through the WUJS
program. Marianna took part in the TRIREME project and worked on the
analysis of transcriptome and proteome dynamics following the induction of DNA damage. It was a pleasure having her in the lab, and we wish her good
luck in her future adventures!
January 2012:
This month we say goodbye to our fellow researchers Eyal David and Dr.
Arnon Paz. Eyal and Arnon were responsible for developing and curating the SPIKE knowledge base, established as a collaboration between our lab and the bioinformatics lab of Prof. Ron Shamir. We wish them both luck in their future endeavors.
We send our warmest wishes to Keren who had a new baby girl, named Shachar
Laura! We wish Keren, Sharon and Alon a big Mazal Tov on this sweet addition to the family. Enjoy!
Congratulations to Dr. Lilach Moyal on the acceptance of her doctoral thesis! Since completing the work on her Ph.D. in our lab, Lilach has moved on to be a senior scientist in a research lab at the Felsenstein Medical Research Center, Beilinson Hospital.
December 2011:
The Shiloh Lab wishes everyone a happy and prosperous New Year, with many
new scientific findings and enlightening moments! Click here for
Photos from our *End-of-Year Party*. The party was a
multi-generational meeting of lab members from past to present, and was a great social and culinary success!
This month we held our first mini-symposium for our lab members on the topic of DNA double strand break repair. Yael, Gilad and Adva enlightened us with thorough reports on the latest advancements in the fields of the major DNA repair pathways. (Photos to come)
We warmly congratulate Adva on the publication of her results on PA28γ's role in the response to DSBs. Her work has been accepted for publication in the December issue of Cell Cycle.
Congratulations to Gilad on the birth of his son, Ayal! We extend a warm Mazal tov to Gilad, Sharon and Shira on the new addition to the family.
This month we welcome Marianna who has joined our lab for the next 3 months, as a fellow researcher from the Czech Republic. Marianna has joined the TRIREME project and is working on transcription factor profiling in the DNA damage response.
October 2011:
Our lab participated in the very successful departmental retreat that was held in Kfar Blum in the Upper Galilee. We spent 2 days engaged in both business and pleasure, listening to talks from fellow students and faculty members, and also enjoyed a nice nature walk along the Banias spring. Click here to enjoy the photos, taken by Lea Shochat from our lab.
September 2011:
Hagit Benyamini has returned to the lab after successfully completing the prestigious 3-months Summer School program at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. Hagit gained valuable theoretical and hands-on experience that will be indispensible to her Ph.D. project about neurodegeneration in A-T.
August 2011:
Our recent paper, "Requirement of ATM-dependent monoubiquitylation of histone H2B for timely repair of DNA double-strand breaks" (Mol. Cell, 41:529-542, 2011), has been selected by a member of the Faculty of 1000 (F1000), which places our work in the F1000 library among the top 2% of published articles in biology and medicine.
June 2011:
At the end of June we said farewell to Paul Morath, a project student who visited us from Germany. Paul's project studied new players in the interface between chromatin organization and the DNA damage response. Here are some photos from his farewell lab meeting.
Congratulations to Sharon Rashi-Elkeles and all her coauthors on the acceptance of their paper "Transcriptional modulation induced by ionizing radiation: p53 remains a central player", to Molecular Oncology.
May 2011:
We are proud to announce that Ariel Bensimon, our recent M.Sc. graduate, has been awarded the First Prize by the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, as the Outstanding Research Student for the year 2011.
Yossi Shiloh won the Israel Prize in Life Sciences for 2011. For further details click here and watch a photo album and the video clip bellow.
Congratulations to Ariel Bensimon on the acceptance of his review "Beyond ATM: the protein kinase landscape of the DNA damage response" to FEBS Letters.
