THE LIESELOTTE ADLER LABORATORY FOR
RESEARCH IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Sidney Strauss
Director

The laboratory is used by many faculty members, Ph.D. and MA students at Tel Aviv University. The lab has 11 workstations connected by a network to the university computer. Each workstation has access to all the university programs.

In addition, we have a special program called Observer that is produced by a Dutch company called Noldus. It allows researchers to observe videos they made and while they are looking at them, they can code data. The Observer program has a statistical package for analyzing data and, if there is a need for additional statistical tests, the data can be sent to the university computer where analyses can be performed.

The lab also has an area where research can be conducted behind a one-way mirror that allows students and faculty members to observe on-going research without interfering with it.

And, last, the lab has machinery that allows the transfer of videotapes to CDs, which aids in coding data on the Observer.
