Cummulative Time Number of Visits

The home base phenomenon in a one hour session of behavior of a hooded rat. The height of the graph at a particular location in the circular 6.5 m diameter arena represents: left––cumulative dwell time during lingering episodes (stopping) at that location. Right: number of visits (lingering episodes, stops) to that location. As shown, one neighborhood in the arena, at approximately 12 o'clock, stands out from all the other places in the arena in the magnitude of these two measures. This neighborhood is defined as the animal's home base (here, there is also a 'garden', typically appearing when there are multiple sessions, at 1.00 o'clock; graphic function designed by Anna Dvorkin)
