"The Many-Faceted Features of the Zero-Dimensional World:
Coulomb interactions, Coherence, and Entanglement"

Abstract

Zero-dimensional   conductors, a.k.a. quantum dots, resemble  artificial atoms in many ways.
Such "atoms", though, are controllable. Measurements of transport through quantum dots involves both charge and spin degrees of freedom, and forces us to better understand the concepts of coherence, external environment and entanglement. I shall discuss some of the dilemmas posed by recent experiments and some ideas for new experiments.
