Animal Models for Technology @ Tel Aviv University

Nature, and specifically living organisms, can offer us solutions or insights into many engineering or technological problems. While these may not always be the utmost, best possible solutions, they are always elegant, energetically efficient, environmentally friendly, and above all very well-tested solutions.

To be able to implement natural designs, processes or solutions to technological challenges, one needs a combination of knowledge and expertise. These are best achieved by collaboration among biologists, engineers, mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists. At Tel Aviv University collaborations in the area of Animal Models for Technology (AMT) are common and include studies of bat bio-sonar, insect locomotion, micro-swimmers and more.
