Dan David Laboratory was established in 2004.
Dan David (1929-2011)
Dan David was born on May 23, 1929, in Bucharest, Romania. He studied
Economics and Technical Methodology and applied his studies to industrial
photography. He was the inventor of a new photographic technology and has issued
various patents in the field of photography. Dan David
was a member of the Board
of Governors of Tel Aviv University and was an Elected Member of the World
Academy of Art and Science. He held the title of Doctor Philosophiae Honoris
Causa at Tel Aviv University.
His strong
passions for paleoanthropology, history and archaeology lead him to
establish the Dan David Laboratory for the search and study of human origins.

The major
goals of the laboratory are: a- initiating
excavations at prehistoric sites in Israel
in the search of the earliest anatomically
modern Homo sapiens b- studying the biohistory of the people inhabiting the
eastern Mediterranean region from
prehistoric times to present. c- studying
anatomical and pathological conditions in
humans from evolutionary perspective.
d-
studying the relationships between past people's osteobiography,
and their culture, economy and
environment.
