HEBREW LANGUAGE LEARNING GOES HI-TECH
Each year 1,500 new immigrant, overseas and foreign students at TAU require intensive Hebrew language instruction to bring their Hebrew up to university level. The new Multimedia Learning Laboratory at the Hebrew Studies Unit donated by Dan Sandel and the Sandel Family Foundation of Malibu, California, will
play a key role in this effort by offering students the latest in multimedia technology for language learning.

The Laboratory was dedicated in the presence of Dan Sandel and Sandel family members and friends, TAU Rector Prof. Nili Cohen, Head of the Special Program Division Prof. Zahava Solomon, and Head of the Hebrew Studies Unit Edna Lauden.
The Laboratory is equipped with multimedia workstations offering instruction either by computer software, video film, or audio tape with headphones. The system provides multiple opportunities for student-teacher and student-student interaction and enables students to proceed at their own pace and receive individual attention from the teacher.
The system offers an array of multimedia options including instant digital recording for student
assessment; cable and satellite TV access; and CD-ROM facilities.
