Prof. Zahava Solomon
Zahava Solomon is a Professor of Psychiatric Epidemiology and Social Work at the Tel-Aviv University and the Head of the Adler Research Center for Child Welfare and Protection.

Prof. Solomon served in the I.D.F as head of the Research Branch in the Medical Corps (1981-1992, Lt. Col). During the years 1994-1996 Professor Solomon served as Dean of the Bob Shapell School of Social Work at Tel-Aviv. She served as the Dean of the special programs at Tel Aviv University between 1997-2001, has published six books on psychic trauma related issues, over 250 articles and more than 50 chapters.

Prof. Solomon has been awarded numerous Israeli and international awards and research grants, including the prestigious Laufer Award   for Outstanding Scientific Achievement in the field of PTSD.

An autobiographical chapter she wrote appears in the book Mapping Trauma and Its Wake, a compilation of autobiographical essays by pioneer researchers in the field of trauma.

Dr. Avital Laufer
Dr. Avital Laufer has received her Ph.D. in Health Sociology in 2001 from Bar-Ilan University. Her dissertation examined violence among Israeli youth won the Bar-Ilan President and Dean prize for excellency. Her studies foucus on youth violence and the effects of terror on youth. Dr Laufer completed her post- doctor studies at the Adler Research Center at Tel Aviv University. Currently she is a lecturer at the Academic College of Netanya.

Dr. Tamar Lavi

Dr. Tamar Lavi received her PhD degree in social psychology in 2004 from Tel Aviv University. Her dissertation examined the effects of terror on the psychological adjustment of young adolescents. The research she has conducted within the Adler Center examines the effects of the Intifada on children living on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and was awarded the Sergio Grywac prize for research on Jewish-Arab relations in the state of Israel.

Since 1999 Dr. Lavi has been working as an educational psychologist treating children suffering of terror induced trauma. She is also a member of the steering committee concerned with the promotion and facilitation of treating PTSD within the educational system in Israel.

Dr. Julia Chaitin
Julia Chaitin received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva, Israel. She specializes in qualitative research and her work has three main foci: (1) the long-term psycho-social impact of extreme social trauma (such as the Holocaust, wars, immigration, refugee experiences) on survivors and their descendants, and on Jewish Israelis; (2) joint Palestinian - Israeli psycho-social and educational research; and (3) issues of identity and ethnic belonging. In 2001-2002, Dr. Chaitin held the Lentz Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Peace and Conflict Resolution Research at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Between 2000 - 2002, she was a head researcher and grant writer for PRIME - The Peace Research Institute in the Middle East. Since 2003, she has been an assistant professor of conflict resolution and peace studies in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University (Florida, USA).

Dr. Zivya Seligman
Doctor of clinical psychology, a graduate of New York University and of Rutgers University. Founder and director of the Center for the Psychological Treatment of Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse in the outpatient psychiatric clinic of the Souraski Tel-Aviv Medical Center. She is a lecturer and supervisor for health care professionals and clinical staffs in the field of sexual trauma. Dr. Seligman also pursues research on sexual trauma and incest at the Tel-Aviv Medical Center. She is the co-editor, together with Professor Zahava Solomon, of Critical and Clinical Perspectives on Incest.

Dr. Yaira Raz-Hamama
Dr. Yaira Raz-Hamama received her Ph.D degree in Social Work from Tel Aviv University (2003). Her doctoral research dealt with "Psychological Adjustment of Melanoma Survivors: Contribution of gender, Gender Identity, Cognitive Appraisal, Hardiness and Attachment Style". She attained both her B.A. (1989) and M.A.(1996) degrees in Tel Aviv University. Her M.A. thesis was about "Fear of Personal Death among Physicians".
During the years 1989-1990 Dr. Raz-Hamama served as a mental health officer in the IDF. In 1990-1994 she worked as a social worker in the field of girls and families in distress. In the past ten years she worked in the psycho-oncological unit and the gynecological department at the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva. Alongside her clinical work she engaged in teaching and operated as fieldwork supervisor at the Bob Shappel School of Social Work, Tel Aviv University. In 2005 she joined the Adler Center on a post-doctoral fellowship. Her research focuses on psychological reactions of Israeli youth to political violence and terror events. Her general research foci are disease and health issues and traumatic stress.
Since October 2005 Dr. Raz-Hamama is a lecturer in the College of Judea and Samaria in Ariel.
