Yehiel Ben-Zvi joined Tel Aviv University in 1972 when he founded the Public Affairs Division. He was elected Vice President of TAU in 1980.

Mr. Ben-Zvi is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He served in the Israel Defense Forces from 1948 to 1972, graduating from the IDF Staff and Command College for Senior Officers in 1956. From 1963 to 1968 he served as the IDF spokesman, and from 1968 to 1972 he was deputy military governor of the Gaza Strip and Northern Sinai. As a reserve colonel he was recalled to active service, serving as the IDF spokesman in Beirut during the "Peace for Galilee Operation."
