Research Interests
The overall interest is aimed at understanding the molecular basis of adhesion of pathogenic bacteria to host cells, the role of innate immunity against oppurtinistic pathogens and development of new approaches of anti bacterial therapy based on bacteria-host cell interactions. In particular the research focuses on:
  • Molecular mechanisms of nonopsonic phagocytosis of bacteria by macrophages and neutrophils.
  • Role of lung collectins against opputunistic pahtogens.
  • Dietary inhibitors of bacterial adhesion to mucosal tissues
  • Anti bacterial peptides
